Hello Gureasko family!

This site will compile information about the Gureasko family heritage. It is being maintained by Eric (Ricky) Bobrow.

As the site grows, this home page will contain posts by anyone in the Gureasko family. There will  be an easy way for members of the clan to log in to the site and create posts. These may contain news, interesting stories, or anything else of interest.

I will start posting real stuff here sometime soon. – Ricky

  1. Thanks so much for doing this, Ricky. Excuse my ignorance, but is this a private site for only registered users? That might be good.

    Love, L

  2. Right now it’s wide open, but I’ll set it up so that certain parts are private and require family members to login in order to view the content or post.

  3. This is great! IF you’d like any help setting anything up, let me know! I have a three day weekend 😉

  4. I have set up a tool within WordPress that allows privacy for posts to be individually set. That way, if anyone feels that what they are writing is only appropriate for family members, they can restrict it to viewing only after logging into the site. In general, however, the site would then remain open.

My personal opinion: I feel that posting anything historical is really a non-issue. I don’t see how these old stories and pictures could be abused. However, current information, such as “what I’m up to these days” along with pictures – these potentially could be read by someone and MAYBE be taken advantage of. Use common sense when you post online.

I would prefer to see this as something like our family version of Facebook – a great place to share, but don’t post your bank account or social security number, and don’t announce when you’re going away on vacation and your house will be empty (of course you could say that a friend will be staying in the house while you’re away…). Just my 2 cents…

I’m interested in getting feedback from others as to how privacy options should be handled.
